In 1899 richtte David Dunbar Buick in Amerika het automerk Buick op en daarmee is het een van de eerste Amerikaanse automerken. Het merk was niet alleen bekend om diverse vernieuwingen in de autobranche, maar ook om de productie van luxueuze, stijlvolle auto’s. Een van deze modellen is de legendarische Roadmaster. Dit model is door Buick in verschillende periodes geproduceerd, waaronder ook de periode van 1946 tot 1958. Deze, in 1948 in Flint (Michigan) geproduceerde Buick Roadmaster Convertible is in indrukwekkend schitterende conditie. Oorspronkelijk werd deze auto geproduceerd in de kleur Honolulu Blue, maar tijdens een volledige body-off restauratie is de auto overgespoten in de schitterende kleur Cairo Cream.

In 2014 is deze prachtige Buick Roadmaster Convertible in Nederland gekomen en is sindsdien met zeer veel zorg en liefde onderhouden. Dat is vooral te zien aan de zeer goede conditie van de auto, zowel technisch als optisch. Deze luxueuze Amerikaanse klassieke auto is in indrukwekkende en schitterende conditie. De carrosseriekleur Cairo Cream heeft een diepe glans en is in zeer goede staat. Ook de verschillende (of vele?) chroom en sierdelen zijn in zeer goede en glanzende conditie. De diverse rubberdelen en afwerkingen zijn ook in goede staat. Deze Buick Roadmaster heeft een 56C Body, afkomstig van Fisher. De carrosseriedelen sluiten goed op elkaar aan en de portieren sluiten degelijk en solide. De zwarte cabrioletkap is in zeer goede (nieuw) staat en is volledig elektrisch bedienbaar. De schitterende ‘white-wall’ banden vormen een perfecte combinatie onder deze auto en ook in goede conditie.

Het rood lederen interieur van deze stijlvolle Buick Roadmaster Convertible vormt een perfecte combinatie met de Cairo Cream carrosseriekleur. De bekleding is in zeer goede (bijna nieuw) staat conditie en ook de warmrode vloerbekleding is in zeer goede conditie. Uiteraard is het royaal en bijzonder comfortabel zitten in deze luxueuze convertible. Het dashboard is schitterend om te zien en in zeer goede conditie. De originele radio is nog aanwezig en alle chroom en sierdelen zijn in glanzende staat. Het is duidelijk te zien dat de prachtige en hoogwaardige afwerkingskwaliteit bedoeld was om zeer lang mee te gaan.

Onder de motorkap ligt een indrukwekkend 8-cilinder motorblok. Buick gaf dit motorblok de naam ‘Fireball Dynaflash straight eight’, wat zonder twijfel een juweel van een motor is met indrukwekkende prestaties. De 5,2 liter motor levert ongeveer 144 pk en een enorm koppel van ongeveer 374 Nm. De motor loopt bijzonder rustig en soepel en de handgeschakelde versnellingsbak schakelt ook bijzonder soepel. De remmen voelen stevig en goed aan en dankzij de aanwezige stuurbekrachtiging gaat het rijden heel erg soepel en comfortabel. De motorkap kan zowel links als rechts worden geopend en laat een zeer goed onderhouden en verzorgde motorruimte zien.

De Buick Roadmaster Convertible is zonder enige twijfel een icoon in de Amerikaanse autogeschiedenis. Deze na-oorlogse royal-class cabriolet verdient weer een volgende liefhebber die niet alleen voor deze auto gaat zorgen, maar vooral ervan gaat genieten!
